“Professional organizers are always organized,” you may be thinking. Rest assured that I have found myself in the middle of my own organizational nightmare on more than one occasion.

I grew up in a very organized household. Everything had a place where it was supposed to go. Every family member had a list of chores each week to be done. Being a typical rebellious teenager, there was a time when my room was always the messiest in the whole house. I remember my mom being horrified at the state of my bedroom with some frequency during those years, and she would make sure I kept the door closed!

Luckily it was just a phase, and in all reality my parents had passed on their organizational skills to me just as they had hoped.

But life has thrown me a few curve balls too. I have found myself situationally disorganized on several occasions throughout my adult life. Cross-country moves, combining households, separating households, and working too many hours have caused disorganization challenges in my own life. I am very thankful I had the skills and determination to haul out the clutter and move forward. It wasn’t always easy, and it’s true, there were many tears on a few occasions, but I got through the process – and so can you.

After experiencing a variety of jobs working for other people, it became clear to me that I was better suited to running my own business. Looking back, it’s evident now how every single one of those jobs has in some way influenced me to become a holistic professional organizer and clutter coach. From one of my first jobs filing paperwork at my parents’ small business in high school, to working with the Senior Chore Program in college, to nine years of fleet vehicle dispatch, operation, and management after graduation -  I really have been organizing things in one way, shape or form my whole life, it’s only the type of things that I’ve been organizing that has changed!

During my taxi dispatching days, a brilliant mad scientist once told me, “You have a geometrical mind.” It took me awhile to really understand what he meant, but now seeing the bigger picture: I’ve been managing people, vehicles, deliveries, and stuff in general in both time and space for more than 20 years, I take it as the highest compliment. Fitting the pieces of the puzzle together is large part of how I assist my clients.

Since 2008, I’ve been helping people declutter and get organized professionally, and also furthering my own knowledge on various aspects of the organizing process through reading, classes, webinars, teleseminars, and experience. In January of 2012 I joined the Institute for Challenging Disorganization (ICD) in order to dedicate myself to more extensive learning within the professional organizing and chronic disorganization fields of study. It is my goal to help you develop the vision for your space, show you the processes of decluttering and getting organized, give you the tools and resources you need to achieve your vision, and teach you how to maintain your new level of organization.

I love helping people declutter and get organized! Why? Because getting organized changes people’s lives for the better – I have seen it time and time again. Clearing out the clutter isn’t just about opening up your physical space, it frees your mind, it can free your heart – it very well may make a positive impact on every other area of your life!
