I was speaking to a friend of mine, Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, Bonnie Giller, not too long ago about the connection between clutter and weight issues. I told her how sometimes when people decided to release their physical clutter there is a physical weight loss that occurs too.

She told me how her clients were often told by doctors that they just need to lose weight and all of their other health problems will fall away (high blood pressure, blood sugar issues, etc).

The problem with that is that with Western medical doctors, the limited or sometimes very narrow-minded advise they give for losing weight just doesn’t work – I know this has certainly been the case for me.

These very strict or regimented food diets can actually cause clutter – emotional clutter, mental clutter. Are you beating yourself up for not being able to lose weight? Are you feeling left out of social gatherings or under-nourished because of these restrictions? Emotional and mental clutter can lead to more physical clutter.

I feel that clutter is anything that causes stagnant energy in our lives. And a diet that tries to fit a square block into a round hole can certainly cause stagnation!
